Craigton & Spittalhil Appeal

Force 9 Energy’s wind farm proposal, Craigton & Spittalhill was refused by Stirling council on 24th March 2015.  Force 9 Energy has decided to appeal against the council’s decision.

The proposed wind farm comprises 7 x turbines (up to 21MW) and would be situated approximately 2 kilometres north west of Wester Cringate Polmaise Road to Carron Reservoir.  There were no statutory consultees who objected to the windfarm and there is a strong base of support from local community groups for the application.  The windfarm would not be visible to any properties within 2kms, or any settlements within 10kms of the site and is considered to be virtually anonymous in the landscape.  In addition there is a commitment to use Scottish sourced wind turbine towers for the development which will help maintain manufacturing jobs in Scotland.  As such the wind farm is considered to be acceptable in planning policy terms.
