Scottish Ministers Consent Clash Gour Wind Farm in Moray

Force 9 Energy, alongside its development partner EDF Renewables, warmly welcomes the decision of the Scottish Ministers to grant consent for Clash Gour Wind Farm in Moray.  The consent is for 48 turbines with a maximum tip height of 180m and an installed capacity of up to 225 Mega Watts (MW).  Force 9 Energy have worked hard, over many years, to develop this major project.  It will make a very substantial contribution towards Scotland’s ambitious renewable energy targets, with the potential to supply more than 200,000 homes with clean electricity. Force 9 Energy would like to thank the local communities for the positive manner in which they have engaged with us over the last years, helping us to bring forward a project that has the potential to deliver significant local and national benefits. We are looking forward to continuing to work with the wide range of stakeholders with an interest in the project as it moves towards construction.

The Clash Gour project brings with it an opportunity for community groups in and around Moray to invest in, and thus share in the profits of, the project over its operational lifetime, anticipated to be 30 years.  EDF Renewables is also committed to paying Community Benefit at the Scottish Government recommended rate (currently £5,000 equivalent per MW of installed capacity) per annum.  Additionally, Clash Gour’s supply chain requirements will provide huge economic opportunities for a wide range of local businesses, such as accommodation providers, local contractors and suppliers of goods and services.
