Deuchries Wind Farm Application Submitted

Force 9 Energy are delighted to have submitted a planning application to Aberdeenshire Council for their proposed Deuchries wind farm, situated approximately 1.5km to the East of Aberchirder (Banff and Buchan). The applications consist of 3 wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of up to 6.9MW.

The plans for Deuchries were formally displayed at a public exhibition in Marnoch Church Hall, Aberchirder in October 2011. Over 150 people attended the exhibition to view the proposals, and importantly feedback their comments through the public opinion survey.

During the consultation process important issues relating to visual impact upon Aberchirder, specifically relating to the Southernmost turbine as proposed in the exhibition was raised and discussed in depth with the local community. These discussions and feedback, which have been gathered over the last year, have significantly assisted in not only shaping the design layout of the proposed turbines but also the number of turbines proposed to be built as part of the application – which has been reduced from 4 to 3, with the turbines which raised concerns being removed entirely to positively impact the visual aesthetics of the wind farm site to and from Aberchirder.

As part of the continuing engagement process, we will look to hold meetings with Community representatives, Council officers and other interested stakeholders over the coming months to discuss the application and also the proposed community benefit fund.
